The long wait is over.

At 8 a.m. on Monday, March 21, 2022, Starbucks-Troy officially opened its doors to the public, and for many coffee lovers, it wasn’t a day too early.

The Starbucks story began in 1971 in Seattle’s historic Pike Place Market. More than fifty years later, the Starbucks story continues with its opening along the “Pike” at Trojan Market Place. A large gathering of community and business leaders and coffee aficionados eagerly awaited the doors to open and hailed the flavor drift that is distinctly Starbucks.

The Pike County Chamber of Commerce hosted the ribbon-cutting ceremony. House Speaker Dana Sanders welcomes Starbucks to Troy and Trojan Market Place.

Tyler Cattell, Starbucks representative, said Starbucks was proud to open in “the beautiful city of Troy.”

Cattell said Starbucks is a company that is committed to providing exceptional customer service and is also committed to the community.

“Starbucks looks forward to being part of and contributing to the Troy business community,” Cattell said. “We at Starbucks are thrilled to be in Troy and look forward to being a part of this growing community and the various opportunities to give back to the community.”

Troy City Council Speaker Marcus Paramore also said Troy welcomes the nationally recognized brand “which will put Troy on the map.”

“Here in Troy, Starbucks will be accessible to our community and also to those who travel on our main highway for business and pleasure,” he said. “We are proud to have Starbucks as part of not only our business community, but also as part of our broader community and the many distinctive events that are Troy.”
