A shocking CCTV video has emerged on the internet in which a 13-year-old boy was slapped by a police officer at a market in Vadodara, Gujarat on Saturday.

The incident happened around 8:45 p.m. Saturday at Nandesari market in Vadodara.

The case came to light after video of the police officer assaulting the underage boy outside a grocery store went viral on social media.

The policeman was identified as Shaktisinh Pavra. He was attached to the Chhani police station, a control room official said.

According to TOI, Pavra was returning from Nandesari Police Station to Chhani Police Station on Saturday evening in his official vehicle. The underage boy came in front of his vehicle crossing the road. The boy said something to him as he crossed the road.

The policeman stopped his car and got out to beat the boy.

In the CCTV footage, the boy can be seen running around inside the store as Pavra followed him.

The cop then captured the boy, the policeman brutally beat him several times. However, some residents tried to intervene. Later, Pavra kicked the boy and let him go.

After a complaint was filed against the officer and an investigation opened, the Area I Deputy Police Commissioner suspended the officer for misconduct, the official added.

Commenting on the incident, Vadodara Police Commissioner Shamsher Singh wrote on Twitter: “Such misconduct can never be tolerated. The cop was suspended from duty with immediate effect. Strict measures will be taken after the investigation.
